SWTOR Game Basics Guide

SWTOR Getting Started Guide

One of the first decisions will be to choose an allegiance… the Galactic Republic or the Sith Empire.  Regardless of allegiance, one can earn “light” and “dark” side points as you progress through the game.

Depending on what allegiance you have chosen you will have a choice of four different Classes.

Galactic Republic

Sith Empire

Jedi Knights

Sith Warriors

Jedi Consulars

Sith Inquisitors

Smugglers

Bounty Hunters

Troopers

Imperial Agents

What Class Should I Play?

If you like to be in your opponents face in melee combat then you should chose to be a Jedi Knight or a Sith Warrior. The Sith Inquisitor (Assassin Advanced Class) can also be a melee type of class (think of a rogue from other MMO’s).

If you want to stand away from the battle an cast spells upon your enemies to damage them, or cast spells to heal your allies, then you should play as the Jedi Consular or Sith Inquisitor (Sorcerer Advanced Class)

If you want to play a medium armor class that uses blaster pistols and rifles, much like a hunter class in other MMO’s then you should play the Bounty Hunter or Smuggler.

However, if you wish to play a ranged class with heavy armor (gives you the ability to ranged tank) then you should play as the Imperial Agent or the Trooper.

Depending on what allegiance you have chosen you will have a choice of four different classes.

The table below lists the classes based on what type of play style you prefer.
