Jedi Knight Guide

Jedi Knights are the masters of the lightsaber arts. They jump, kick, and flash through the air while using the Force to clear a path in front of them. Jedi Knights have before served as generals, warriors, and guerilla fighters for generations. The Jedi Knight is the guardian of a dream for a better tomorrow.

Class Role

The Jedi Knights are a melee class with some force abilities. Jedi Knights can go down two specialization pathways The Jedi Sentinel for melee DPS (damage per second) and The Jedi Guardian as a melee tank. Neither of the Jedi Knight specializations has healing abilities.

Equipment

Jedi Knights can wear either Heavy or Medium armor depending on their Advanced Class. The Tank specialization, The Jedi Guardian, wears Heavy armor while the the DPS Specialization, the Jedi Sentinel, wears Medium armor. As the Jedi Sentinel you want to stack Strength and the Jedi Guardian tanks want Endurance and Strength on their gear.

Jedi Knight DPS Crew Skills

Artifice, Archaeology and Treasure Hunting

SWTOR Artifice Crew Skill
SWTOR Archaeology Crew Skill
SWTOR Treasure Hunting Crew Skill

Artifice will create modifications that add attributes to your gear, such as your lightsaber. You will also be able to create your own relics, which are very similiar to trinkets used in other games. These relics give you more attributes (usually Endurance) and then have an ability that boosts your damage for 20 seconds. Artifice also creates the Crystals and gems that go into your lightsaber or blaster pistol to change their glowing effecting. This crew skill will also allow you craft your own powerful lightsabers, enhancements and hilts.

Some of the items that you can make for your Jedi Sentinel or Jedi Guardian with Artifice are the following items:

If you pick Artifice as one of your crew skills then you should also get the Archaeology and Treasure Hunting crew skills. These two crew skills will give you most of the materials you will need for Artifice.

Jedi Knight Tanking Crew Skills

SWTOR Biochem Crew Skill
SWTOR Bioanalysis Crew Skill
SWTOR Diplomacy Crew Skill

If you plan on being a Tank then you will want to pick up Biochem for the [Rakata Fortitude Stim]. Bioanalysis and Diplomacy are the gathering crew skills for Biochem.

Abilities and Combat

Jedi Sentinel

Jedi Sentinel

The Jedi Sentinel advanced class is a very high DPS class in SWTOR on the Republic side and they dual wield lightsabers. Within the Jedi Sentinel advanced class there are two talent trees.

The Watchmen Specialization is a damage over time (DoT) tree, which means that your attacks won’t deal a lot of damage in the very beginning, but instead they will kill the enemy via the DoT (called “Burn” damage). This tree also has a talent called Merciless Zeal that heals you every time your Burn effect crits. This will likely be a PvP (player vs player) specialization, and is not recommended for leveling.

The Combat Specialization will do a lot of immediate damage to your opponent and attacks with both lightsabers at the same time. This is also a good PvP and PvE specialization, but since there is a lot of damage upfront it is highly recommended to level as the Combat Jedi Sentinel.

Jedi Guardian

Jedi Guardian

The Guardian is a melee tank that wears heavy armor. Guardians use one lightsaber and will have talents that allow them to evade damage and allow them to also take a great deal of damage without dying.

The Guardian has two specialization trees the Defense tree and the Vigilance tree. The Defense tree is the best Jedi Knight tanking tree, while the Vigilance tree does allow the Jedi Guardian to do some damage, but it’s not recommend to become a Jedi Guardian if you wish to DPS.

The Jedi Guardian Defense tree will be the most used Melee tank in SWTOR on the galactic republic side.

If you don’t need a healer, then Kira would be the best companion to use for the extra damage to kill the mob faster and keep moving on.
