Launch Date and Early Access

Update: SWTOR Early Access Date is Moved to December 13, 2011!
Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) launches on December 20, 2011 in North America and will launch in the European Launch Territories on December 22, 2011. If you have pre-ordered the game, you can enjoy the early access benefits. You can play Star Wars: The Old Republic up to five days before the game hits stores which can be a significant, but not game breaking advantage.

Everyone still has a chance to pre-order and get early access. The number of early access days each individual receives all depends upon the time that they have redeemed their pre-order code. Someone who redeemed their pre-order code in August will get more early access days than someone who redeems their code a week before Star Wars: The Old Republic launches.

There are three editions available: Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s editions. Every copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic comes with an exclusive in game item known as the color stone and 30 days of subscription time.

In order to continue playing after those initial 30 days, you will have to set up a monthly subscription. The prices for the monthly subscription vary and players have three options of which too chose from: $14.99 per month, $41.97 for 3 months ($13.99 per month), or $77.94 for six months ($12.99 per month).

According to Electronic Arts, Star Wars: The Old Republic broke its all-time record for pre-order sales by a far margin and if you have ever played at the beginning of a new game or new expansion, you understand how much of a hassle it is to do your quests or loot your items, although I still feel as if the servers will be busy at the launch date. The early access benefits will help make the starting zones a lot less crowded.

I personally like how people who have pre-ordered the game will receive early access. I think it is a good way to make sure everyone has an enjoyable first few moments in the game, because there is nothing worse than camping monsters and waiting forever for them to spawn. They are ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable launch, which is what will keep players interested in the game.

some of it is outdated… EA will start 13th. Unfortunately there will be no way of knowing until acceptance emails start to go out.

I can say this after playin beta; its nothing like we have seen. IF you dont try to rush thru and play like your regular mmo, and get into and watch the story… it is amazing. More like an interactive movie (which is what this mmo thing shoulda been the whole time; its what gives us an advantage over the ‘sitters’ that just watch TV).
